In this specialized program, students will learn how to summarize after each chapter of their summer reading assignments, keep character lists, sequence events, predict outcomes, make inferences and solidify comprehension. To schedule a session, please email Ms. Biddle.

Hands On, Minds On

Critical Thinking through Collaborative Games! We all love to play games, and research shows that many games build critical thinking and verbal reasoning skills, along with spatial awareness. Campers will explore a variety of games using hands-on materials, computers, and language activities to maximize the transfer of skills learned. After each activity, campers will discuss strategy and try the game again. Minds and hands will be active! Laptops or other devices encouraged.

Young Critics

When: June 26-30
Age level: Grades 5-8
Time: 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Have you ever wished you could tell everyone exactly what you think of the latest fad? Have you ever left a movie and found yourself unable to stop talking about it? At Young Critics Camp, your opinion matters! Campers from grades 5 through 8 will experience the entire journalistic process as they report on movies, restaurants, and a few other events that lend themselves to spreading the word. Campers will be guided through both written and on-screen reviews. Laptops or other devices used for word processing are encouraged!

Do you have what it takes? Imagine two teams competing head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, sports, and popular culture. Spend the week practicing with questions and learning all the rules of a real tournament, with the guidance of your coach. At the end of the week, be the first to hit the buzzer and help lead your team to victory! Campers can be added to the Wait List through Online Registration.

Math Review

When: August 14-18
Age level: Grades 4-5
Time: 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Cost: $175

Get ready for a new school year! Here’s your chance to get ahead before September. In this course, students who will be entering fourth or fifth grade will have the opportunity to review basic facts, numeration and place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division computations, fractions, and basic geometry.

Grammar Clinic

When: August 14-18

Time: 9:00-11:00 a.m.

What’s summer without grammar? We thoroughly explore the eight parts of speech, the foundation of all grammar study. Students become more familiar with the functions of words and how they work together within a sentence.
